GWR loco headlamp positions

On GWR locos there is provision to carry two spare headlamps on the loco running plates, usually on the left hand side. I've scoured the rule books and cannot find anything that says which way the lamps should be placed, ie lens inward or outward facing. Logic would say inwards but photos show it co...

I am unable to give an authorised comment on this, But.... I can remember in the late 50's early 60's being on Darlington station and seeing occasionally an EP heading to London with a BSK or BSO at the front next to the loco and that was the guards van, only ordinary coaches at the rear and this wo...

I'm unable to say what each pipe did, the 'RM' letters do say something about a high pressure hot water pipe attaching to the top for a spray ball.

As the tanks have been unloaded presumably the hoses are for cleaning out before the remaining milk can go off!!! There is some corrospondance in the February 'Railway Modeller' about milk train workings in the London area and also the statement that milk tanks were loaded from a valve at the bottom...
