Signal box, looking for ideas

Hi folks, my German signal box is showing signs of age. It was made of wood just to cover the electric bits of the interlocking. Now I am looking for something different. As most of my stock is British, I need a matching signal box. Did anyone ever build one to scale? I would prefer bricks as wood d...

Re: Headlamp code

Hi Eddie, thanks for the warning. I will also use warm white LEDs now. For the connections I am going to use 2-pin connectors like this one: http://www.adaptare.de/images/49530.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (can be cut to any length) The pins will project aout 5 mm from the lamp...

Re: Headlamp code

The lamps arrived yesterday. They are fantastic. I will try and fit a yellow LED inside. The bottom three will receive a plug at the bottom and will be powered by a battery hidden under the frames. For the top lamp there are 2 Problems: #1 Some pictures show the top lamp iron above the polished ring...

Re: Headlamp code

Hi Eddie,

thanks for the information. I just ordered a set of headlamps from Mr. Tipton.
This leads us to the next question. Which embellishments are correct and where do I fit them?
As all four lamp brackets will be occupied there is not much room left.

Best regards

Headlamp code

Hi folks, I am looking for info on the headlamp codes. According to lner.info, some Clauds were used for the Royal Train: From 1924, Clauds were occasionally seen on GNR routes into King's Cross for special passenger services. Typically these would be Royal Trains to Cambridge or King's Lynn. King's...

Re: Claud Hamilton / Super Claud

Update: After a visit to Bressingham I finally have the right shade of blue paint. Injector clacks sorted out Just some minor detailing work to be done (dummy air pump, handrails, etc) Axle pump is not reliable. It was not included in the design, but Manfred (aka Master Mechanic) managed to squeeze ...

Hi Folks,

The previous owner turned it into a Southern loco.

Where can I buy matching headlamps for this loco?

Suppliers of Shed Plates??

Hi folks,

work on the Claud is progressing. As some were based in Norwich (and I have a very good friend there) I am planning to get a matching shedplate for Norwich Shed (32A).
Which supplier would you suggest?

BEst regards

Re: Loco Coal Only

Well, in Germany "Bahnhofswagen" are quite common. They do not leave the station and are used mainly as storage facilities. Some have not moved for years. This was what I was thinking about when seeing this picture. Looked to me like "for internal use only".

Loco Coal Only

Hi Folks, just reading a book dated 1928 "Trains and their control". I found a picture of a coaling stage with a Midland 5 or 7 plank wagon in the background. The wagon was marked: M R LOCO COAL ONLY Would it be correct to have a wagon like this in a regular freight train or were these wagons only t...

Re: Lamps reloaded...

Hi Mike, thanks for the info. I do not have any Turnout older than 2011. Of course I know that no Super Claud was blue but I have seen several models of blue Super Clauds (last one at antiquesteam.co.uk) and I liked the colour. The Claud Hamilton was blue, so my version is a kind of "what if one Cla...

Re: Lamps reloaded...

Can anyone give me a sketch/dimensions of the necessary lamp irons for the Claud?
Did any Claud carry headboards?
How are these mounted?

Re: Super Claud, looking for the right number.

Hi Richard, even if it is not authentic, I will stick to the blue livery. Even in Germany, there are some "what if" liveries. A few years ago, the famous 18 201 was repainted red. It ran in that livery for a year. The reason was that red had always been the colour of German highspeed steamers like 0...

Re: Super Claud, looking for the right number.

Hi Folks,

now you got me confused. Among others I found this pic on the net some time ago. Belpaire Boiler, big smokebox and blue livery.

Do you think this is incorrect?

Re: Super Claud, looking for the right number.

Hi Eddie, thanks for the info. Yes, I have seen photos of another Claud in blue with vermillion buffer beams and white cab roof and the decision was taken at once. Du you know a supplier for the letters/numbers/crests? I must admit that I´m absolutely untalented using waterslide transfers... Best re...

Super Claud, looking for the right number.

Hi folks, lately I read an article that one Super Claud had almost been preserved. The stors goes that "do not scrap" was written on one cab sinde but the wrecking crew approached from the other side. That article did not mention any number and I am not sure if that is true. Can anyone give more inf...
