Re: Radio-Controlled Locos
I have never had trouble with relays as reversers. My locos have wired controllers using sub-D plugs (with the screws removed) underneath the buffer beam. If the loco separates from the train, all I have to do is hold the handset. The plug will come off and the loco will stop. On my class 216 I use ...

Hi Dave,
i hope to start a discussion here with members sharing their experience.
So we will not have to re-invent the wheel.

Radio-Controlled Locos
Concerning the article in the last TURNOUT. A relay to cut off power in case of emergency (mosfet failure to short) is an option. But relays can also become troublesome.... I would like to suggest something similar to the well-known "crowbar-circuit". The crowbar is normally used as overvoltage prot...

Looking for an Article
Could anyone please send me a scan of the Rainhill article published in Model Engineer, September 3, 1942, page 229 and following?
I bought that loco from the builder´s grandson and brought it back to running order.
All I have is a scan of the first page.
Best regards
Holger

Still waiting for mine.
I guess that shipping to Germany will take about a week longer.

Sentinel steam shunter
Hi, a friend and me are working on the Sentinel shunter to the published "Sirena" articles. The boiler will be another design but for the rest we will stick to the description. We have the articles but no drawings. I read that there has been a battery-electric model of a Sentinel type 8805 built by ...

German Wine barrel wagon
As there is not much happening under this topic I would like to show my newest addition: These wagons were privately owned so every supplier/wine merchant had them built to his specifications. There were some with one barrel, some with two or even three. Some were fitted lengthwise, others not. Some...

Re: Facebook & Forums
Hi, this was the main reason I do not have FB. My wife had it for a few weeks and then got fed up with notifications like "someone you might know has marked someone you could know on a picture made by someone whom you do not know....." and lots of other notifications that for some reason are hard or...

Can you recommend any supplier? This size is not available in Germany.

Help needed: Chains
Hi, I am refurbishing my 0-6-0 diesel-outline petrol shunter. One of the chains (roller chains, single) is of the wrong type. It has a pitch of 6mm and just won´t fit. (the first 3 links do, but the pitch doesn´t match the sprocket) The other chain has a pitch of 5.3 to 5.5mm and fits perfectly. Now...

Re: Interested in a signal building group?
Keith,
I tried that. My LBSC Miny was due for a repaint of the running boards. Cleaned and put Hammerite (the newish stuff) on. After a few days it came right off in big flakes. Cleaned again, primed, painted (regular paint) and it worked. The old Hammerite was much better....

Re: driving truck suspension
Hi Andy,
on my first driving truck with two unsprung, rigid bogies a simple washer between bogie top and frame did the trick. It allows the bogie to tilt in any direction. The truck has run fine ever since.

the stuff I have is a bit less than 1mm.
If you want to give it a try, let me know.

Re: Interested in a signal building group?
Why not use coloured perspex. The stuff is available here.
I use it when restoring old O-gauge Signals.
If warm white LEDs are used, there is no problem.
Only the cold white LEDs with their slightly bluish light look strange.
If you need any of the coloured perspex, send me a PM

Re: Interested in a signal building group?
How about replacing the Servo lever by an eccentic disc? The operating rod then runs on the surface of the disc. This will cancel out "sideways" movement of the operating rod. The jitters would also have less effect with this configuration.

Re: Interested in a signal building group?
How much travel do you need? I would suggest to do it like I did with my point motors. One geared motor, running in one direction only (to simplify the circuit). An eccentric to move the rods and two limit switches to stop it twice per revolution. (top and bottom position) Wirks fine on my garden ra...
