Hi,

My buffers will be made of aluminium. We talk here about a standard model in 5". The buffer can compensated about 12 mm (1/2")
Because I prefer aluminium to work on it, it's not as hard as steel, it weights one third of steel and it doesn't rust.

But does anyone of you have any expirience with aluminium in buffers?
Are they strong enough for normal use of course.? :?

Here is what I did design.

And this is the inside of the construction.

Maybe I should tell you that I build my carriages (NOT TO RIDE ON) in leight weight, approximately 20 Kg. I'm sorry but I don't know the right imperial weight.
Can someone tell me what the English equivalent is for a Kilogram.

Frits,

20kg is 44 pounds.

There are 2.2 pounds in a kilo.
