Whilst researching details for building a BR Trestle ED I was lucky enough to be able to trawl through a load of assorted drawings held by the Rolling Stock Engineer at Thornaby. And came across a drawing of the handbrake details of a BR Boplate E which showed the handbrake handle rack in great detail. The drawing showed and stated that the 15 holes for the pin should be drilled at an angle of 5 degrees 44 minutes downwards !! presumably this to stop the pin vibrating out. Did anyone know of this as i would suspect that all racks will be the same in this regard ???

Yes Bob, this was normal, my drawing of the 1923 RCH 12 ton mineral wagon states that the holes were to be at "1/4" angular pitch" which gives an angle of just under 9 degrees.
