If you want to know what is included you should ask Maxitrack, as such things may change over time.
However, as they were not, as far as I know, used by BR or a constituent company, you wouldn't be allowed to run one at a GL5 event.
Dave.

Hi Dave

Thanks for your comments I have been in contact with maxitrack about it but I'm having no luck in getting a response at the moment so I thought I'd ask on here as I was also hoping that someone had experience in building one as I can't remember if I have seen any of the maxitrack items and no one at my local club does eather and considering most of them have been in the club as long or longer than I have you'd have thought one or 2 items would have appeared somewhere buy now buy that's another matter.

As far as them being in BR or any constituent hand I can't find the one I'm looking at however according to Wikipedia they're was I think a steam sentinel in GWR and one with the LMS I know that Dapol have also done one in BR but again not the one I am looking at so if anyone can point out any in BR that would be great.

In regards to the GL5 events it's safe to say 2 things here the first thing I always build things I fancy not to run at any event if that means I can't run it their then that's fine I had an pretty good idea of what the association was about before sighing up but I wanted to see how good things are for myself as again no one that I know of is a member or they aren't admitting it so hopefully this explains better of why I'm asking and hopefully I haven't caused offence with it

Thanks
Alan

There was one trialled on BR, in Gloucester Docks- I put a link to a photo in reply to David's post in this section- but it clearly wasn't successful enough to warrant a purchase as none were actually owned by BR and as such as Dave has said they don't fit the GL5 requirements.

I looked into them a few years back, I believe the kit has everything included bar the battery and probably battery cables if you wanted to use a larger one in a driving truck, but obviously it won't have mod cons like sound and remote or radio control, just switchboard mounted on the loco with on/off, fwd/ rev and a speed control "pot". If you wanted I suspect you could upgrade to a handheld controller at additional cost.

Hi Matt

Thanks for your response and as already mentioned above the GL5 dose not apply to anything I do i buy and build what pleases me not GL5 and it's very unlikely I would be attending an event any way

Thanks
Alan

Understood Alan- I was just giving an answer to your question " if anyone can point out any in BR that would be great", and confirming the GL5 stance on them as this is after all the GL5 forum!

There were loads in industrial use (some of which did work over BR lines or exchange sidings with permission) so there are a huge number of prototypical liveries to chose from if that's your thing.

I think they're one of the best looking diesel shunters in full size and the Maxitrak one is a pretty decent representation (certainly better than quite a few of the commercially available 5" diesel outline locos). I must admit to keeping half an eye out for a cheap second hand "project" one to repaint and detail.

Hi Matt

Thanks for your comments and thanks for confirmation of the GL5 stance.

In terms of livery I'm more likely to do national coal board with this one as that's the one at Ayrshire preservation society (I think they are now called doon the valley or something like that) so definitely wouldn't fit into what the GL5 stance witch is s issue for me anyway as if things where to change I'd more than likely be using the Manor that I've been building but unable to move forward until things open again but I did know that maxitrack did this locomotive until the GL5 magazine arrived last week and when I saw they did this as a kit I almost fell off the seat as like yourself found it quite attractive plus and I have never built a kit in this scale before and never thought I'd have the cash as I was expecting a kit 2 be two to three times that witch is out of my budget and I don't know anyone that has built any kits other than winston kit which is bad word in our club as I've not known anyone that's been able to put one together with a major rebuild but I can't imagine that being the case with maxitrack but anyway I think the next step is I'm going to have to make a phone call to them as they aren't answering emails so will see how things go

Thanks
Alan
