Saracen's Head September meet

Post by Admin » Thu Sep 30, 2021 10:46 am

Hello All,

Just a really big thank you to all who helped in any way with the weekend rally. The weather was superb, as was the catering. Liz, Joyce & Pete, Sue and Julian deserve a special vote of thanks for the really good BBQ on the Saturday evening - helped in no small measure by being illuminated! Ray, the new owner of Pipwell Manor, has helped us enormously by re instating the mains electricity supply. This will also be a real boost to our winter working parties.

At least fifteen of our group attended all told, with most making all three days. Every visitor enjoyed a good run, it was good to see two rakes of coaches on the track, interspersed with various assorted freight turns. Ben and Dave made a great contribution during the previous week by installing track circuiting and building new signals which protect the crossover at Manor sidings. The timetable ran smoothly with all three yards in operation every day.

All in all a fantastically enjoyable long weekend - roll on next year!! As always, continued thanks to Leslie and John, without their support we would have no railway!!

All the best,

Steve Ross

Sounds like we missed a good 'un!

Great to hear there's power now, will certainly make life easier for the Saracens Head gang.

Track circuiting and signalling down to Manor/ Pipwell sounds like a good addition and will save a fair bit of hand waving!

Keep up the good work all, looking forward to seeing the changes next year.
