T26, correct shade of blue

Post by Scrat » Sun Dec 16, 2018 10:02 pm

Hi,

I am looking for the RAL code of th blue colour of Class T26 number 490 preserved at Bressingham.
The closest matchi I think is RAL 5022 "Nachtblau".
Does anyone have a better Idea?

Not a lot of help for an RAL number but the following from the GER Society site suggests 490 is not the same colour as the original GER colours
"The actual blue colour used was a pure ultramarine blue - a tin of which is in the GERS Collection. When painted over the French grey undercoat and varnished this gave a very deep, rich blue. The two preserved GER locomotives 87 and 490 were painted in a rather muddy shade, and thus do not give a true representation of the finished effect."
