Post by Ben Lyons » Mon Apr 13, 2015 5:45 pm

Hi

Does anyone know if there are parts on the market for LMS/BR signals I am of a mind to do some for next years Shildon, BUT at 1/8 scale.

Posts I can do either Brass tube or hardwood for square posts its the rest I'm looking for.

Thanks Ben

There used to be a firm called Great Western Engineering who did arms as a two piece kit with a nicely folded arm in 1mm plate and a spectacle plate in 2mm plate, but I can't find them now. Compass House do some signal arms laser cut from 3mm steel plate as well as balance weights and bell cranks.

Hi Eddyg,

Thanks I was hoping for something a little near to scale, anyway I might well get a couple of arms to have a look at. Hopefully someone else might come back with something more. I the mean time I have LMS signal book so if I can find time I will draw up some arms ect. Maybe some one will have lamps all ready drawn as could grow some masters on my 3D printers and then white metal cast.
Thanks Ben

Hi Eddy
Looked at drawing last night and spec plate is some 1 1/8inch thick so 3mm about right arms then taper down.
so will give it a try.
Thanks Ben
